I was just curious if i was to try plaquenil again for a few days/weeks if you decide to stop do you have to wean off like a lot of drugs or can you simply stop taking it.thanks. I recently decided to stop taking Plaquenil because I was having constant chest pains even more so than I usually have due to Lupus. Since I have not taken it my chest feels so much better which is odd because chest pain is not listed as a side effect. Hi, I started taking Plaquenil on June 24th and for the last four or 5 days have had horrible itching. No rash just all over itching. My Rhuemy told me to stop taking it until all itching symptoms were gone, then wait another week and start up again with 1 pill 200mg a day instead of 2.
