    Coming off plaquenil

It's used to treat and prevent malaria infection, and to reduce symptoms and progression of autoimmune diseases such as lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, and others. Malaria is spread by mosquitoes, which transmit the parasites that cause the infection, usually in tropical and subtropical parts of the world.

Yes, I have bipolar disorder but it is well treated, and these symptoms did not come out of nowhere. They date right to when I started taking Plaquenil. I see my doc in 5 days and rather than do the full 800mg. I'm weaning myself off, before I become suicidal I already want to hurt myself, I'm so depressed, but not suicidal yet. So that's the update. The lesson here is - for those who need to go off plaquenil, be careful about just going off it cold turkey. Obviously some of CAN do that, but if you don't know if you're one of them - better to be on the safe side and wean slowly. Take it from me! I am feeling much better after bumping my dose back up over the last few. Jan 27, 2010 The only thing I can think is that when you stop the plaquenil quickly one might have a flare that occurs "slam bam". If you taper off the flare may come anyway but maybe it would be slower and more mild. Did the doc mention going on another drug if you find that you need it.

For example, it may be combined with an antibiotic to treat chronic Q-fever, which humans usually catch from farm animals or raw milk. Plaquenil is used to treat other types of infections too.

Hydroxychloroquine is plaquenil, which can cause eye problems it's uncommon to have eye symptoms coming off of the medication ask your doctor for evaluation of other causes of eye discomfort and vision changes Nov 12, 2009 Plaquenil is a 6-weeker as far as the benefits are concerned, but it would be more dangerous to stop if you spend a lot of time outside and if this were the summer. If you're gonna experiment, I went off it cold turkey as it didn't hurt to do it that way, but you better get back on before the summer or you could experience a flare-up. Hello all, I am currently new to this site and ran across the discussion about stopping Plaquenil. I have been taking Plaquenil for about 8-9 months and thought that it was not helping me because I still have a fair amount of joint pain, fatigue, muscle pain and so many other issues.
