Numerous drugs have been associated with neutropenia. The highest risk categories are antithyroid medications, macrolides, and procainamides. As stated above, many drugs act by an immune-mediated mechanism. However, some drugs appear to have direct toxic effects on marrow stem cells or neutrophil precursors in the mitotic compartment. Our review considered neutropenia, lymphopenia, AIHA, thrombocytopenia, TTP and myelofibrosis. According to the literature, mild neutropenia is a common finding in SLE and requires no specific therapy. However, patients with severe neutropenia with opportunistic infection or the risk of such infection can be successfully treated with G-CSF. Introduction Hydroxychloroquine is a Aminoquinoline derivative which is widely used for treatment of malaria, rheumatoid arthritis and lupus besides many other autoimmune diseases. Though neutropenia is listed as a potential side effect, there is no reported case in the literature. We present a very rare presentation of hydroxychloroquine toxicity.
